Thin-film chip resistors deliver high power

KOA Speer's WN73H series of metal thin-film chip resistors.

KOA Speer Electronics has introduced the WN73H series of high power and high precision metal thin-film chip resistors, designed to meet the requirements of high heat and high moisture applications. These wide-termination reverse-geometry resistors deliver power ratings of 0.3 W in a 0306 package and 1 W in a 0612.

Other key specifications include resistance values from 10 Ω to 100 kΩ, with high precision resistance tolerances as low as ±0.1% and a high performance temperature coefficient resistance (TCR) down to ±10 ppm/°C. These thin-film chip resistors offer an operating temperature range of -55°C  to 155°C and a rated ambient temperature of 85°C.

The WN73H series also offers excellent moisture resistance in qualification testing at 85°C and 85% relative humidity for 1,000 hours, KOA Speer said. The company attributes improved moisture resistance to a special protective coating.

These high-precision resistors are suited for applications that demand high reliability such as in automotive, medical, and industrial markets. Applications include electronic control units such as inverters and 48-V mild hybrid systems.

The WN73H resistors are AEC-Q200 tested and sulfur resistance verified according to AST M B 809-95. They are also RoHS-compliant. Samples are available on request.
