Silicon Labs ships Series 3 wireless SoCs

At its recent Works With Summit event, Silicon Labs announced the general availability of the first products in its new Series 3 platform: the SiMG301 and SiBG301 wireless SoCs. These devices are the first in the SixG301 family, targeting compute-intensive IoT applications.

The SiMG301 is also among the first devices certified under the recently announced Connectivity Standards Alliance’s (CSA) Matter Compliant Platform Certification program. The Series 2 MG24 and MG26 SoCs will also be included in the Matter Compliant Platform Certification program.

The Series 3 devices complement the Series 2 platform. While the Series 2 devices target ultra-low-power endpoints, Series 3 can be adopted for more demanding designs that call for advanced features without changing ecosystems, tools, or support models. The SiXG301 devices also recently achieved the industry’s first PSA Level 4 certification, the highest security level recognized by PSA Certified.

The Series 3, consisting of the SiMG301 and SiBG301, is built on an advanced 22-nm process, and introduces a multi‑core architecture that separates application, wireless, and security workloads. This provides headroom for growing protocol stacks and emerging compute-intensive use cases at the edge, Silicon Labs said.

The SiMG301 multiprotocol wireless SoC supports concurrent Zigbee, Bluetooth LE, and Matter over Thread. It is suited for smart lighting, and other Matter-focused switches, sensors, and controllers. An integrated LED pre‑driver reduces external components, bill-of-materials cost, and board space in line‑powered designs.

The Bluetooth-optimized SiBG301 targets Bluetooth LE applications and delivers an easy migration path from Series 2 Bluetooth designs. It is designed for line-powered smart devices including LED lighting, plugs, and switches.

Both devices provide Flash/RAM headroom with up to 4-MB Flash and 512-kB RAM. They both include Silicon Labs’ PIXELRZ single-wire communication interface for LED controller ICs as well as a LED pre-driver that enables low level and consistent dimming.

The SiMG301 and SiBG301 are available today from Silicon Labs and authorized distributors. Also available are evaluation kits, reference applications, and a guided Matter Developer Journey, including certification checklists and lab‑ready test projects to accelerate product development and certification.
