Samtec, Inc. has created development and evaluation kits for military applications to validate that its interconnect products meet performance requirements. These evaluation and development kits feature high-speed interconnect solutions that help simplify design from concept and prototype to development and production.
VITA defines and develops key computer bus, board, and system specifications. Systems from space launch control to defense systems, medical imaging, and semiconductor processing have depended on products based on VITA Technologies, Samtec said. These include specifications for VMEbus, PCI Mezzanine Card, VXS, VPX, VNX+, FMC, FMC+, and QMC.

FMC and FMC+ are ANSI Standards that define a compact electro-mechanical expansion interface for a daughter card to an FPGA baseboard or other device with re-configurable I/O capability. Samtec offers several dev kits for FMC and FMC+ development. The VITA 57.1 FMC evaluation kits include the FMC Extender Card and the 14 Gbits/s FireFly FMC Development Kit, and VITA 57.4 FMC+ evaluation kits include the FMC+ HSPC Loopback Card, the FMC+ HSPC/HSPCe Loopback Card, and the 25/28 Gbits/s FireFly FMC+ Development Kit.
Samtec provides both standard and application-specific board-to-board connector solutions. Many of them are suited for mil-spec environments and systems, including MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-1344, MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-DTL-55302, and NASA Class D missions. These products are tested to or beyond industry standards, including lot screen testing per EIA-364, which meets or exceeds MIL-DTL-55302.
Samtec’s severe environment testing includes its standard design qualification testing, and extended life product testing as well as additional testing for interconnect systems that will be used in more extreme or harsh applications or environments.
