MPD Announces Customer-First Plan to Offset New 20% U.S. Tariff on Taiwan-Origin Goods

MPD (Memory Protection Devices, Inc.), a leading manufacturer of battery holders and power-connection components, today announced a comprehensive plan to minimize the impact of the new 20% U.S. tariff on Taiwan-origin imports effective September 2, 2025.

“Customers come first-full stop,” said Daniel B. Lynch Sr., CEO at MPD. “We’ve mobilized our global logistics network and pricing policies so you can keep building without disruption. From flexible fulfillment options to absorbing a significant portion of the tariff on U.S. deliveries, our mission is to protect your timelines and your budgets.”

What MPD Is Doing for Customers

  • Flexible Hong Kong Fulfillment
MPD will fulfill eligible international orders from its Hong Kong warehouse, providing faster consolidations and routing choices that can reduce landed costs for non-U.S. destinations.
  • Direct Drop-Ship from Taiwan Factory (No U.S. Tariff)
For qualifying orders and destinations, MPD will drop ship directly from our Taiwan factory so customers can receive goods without the U.S. tariff, where legally applicable.
  • Shared-Cost Commitment for U.S. Shipments from NY
For U.S.-destined orders shipping from MPD’s New York warehouse, MPD will pass through only 10% (half) of the new tariff and absorb the remaining 10% to help cushion customer costs.
  • Pre-Tariff Inventory Protected
All inventory physically in MPD’s New York warehouse on or before September 2, 2025, will not be subject to the new Taiwan tariff when sold and shipped from that stock.
  • Diligent Compliance & Correct HTS Coding
MPD’s trade compliance team continues to validate accurate HTS classifications on every shipment to prevent overpayment and ensure customers pay only what regulations require.

How This Affects Your Orders

  • Need the fastest global routing?
Ask about Hong Kong fulfillment options.
  • Shipping to destinations where U.S. tariffs don’t apply?
    Consider Taiwan factory drop-ship.
  • U.S. deliveries from NY?
MPD will absorb 10% of the 20% tariff and pass through only 10%.

MPD’s customer service and sales teams are ready to help you choose the most costeffective and compliant shipping path for each order and to lock in pricing on available pretariff inventory.
