Targeting higher-current applications, Bourns, Inc. has expanded its CRK series with the launch of its Model CRK1225 current sense resistor. The new device provides up to 3 W of power dissipation and supports a wider resistance range in a small 1225 package.

This AEC-Q200-compliant, automotive-grade series uses metal strip technology in a wide terminal design that improves thermal dissipation and reduces hot spots. Key benefits of current sense resistors include their small size, accurate temperature coefficient of resistance, and relatively low cost compared to other technologies, Bourns said.
The Model CRK1225 features resistance values down to 1 milliohm (mΩ) to enable accurate current sensing with minimal power loss, Bourns said. The full range is 1 mΩ to 55 mΩ. The operating temperature range is -55℃ to 170℃.
Target applications include voltage measurement for higher current applications, including power supplies, stepper motor drives, input amplifiers, electric vehicle battery management systems, on-board chargers, advanced-driver assistance systems, and power domain controllers.
This series is suited for certain harsh environments with thermal/mechanical stress. In addition, the anti-sulfur design enables its use in sulfur-rich or polluted environments.
The Model CRK1225 current sense resistor is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free. It is available through Bourns’ authorized distribution partners.
