Bourns, Inc. has introduced three new series of incremental micro encoders, the 4-mm PEC04 Series, 5-mm PEC05 Series, and 6-mm Model PEC06. They provide the position and speed data necessary for control functions in a range of electronic applications such as smart wearables, micro headphones, mouse wheels, desk lamps, and smart home appliances.
The PEC04, PEC05, and PEC06 encoders feature an IP40 rating for dust. These devices offer 30k (PEC04), 50k (PEC05) and 20k (PEC06) rotational cycle ratings and a -20°C to 70°C operating temperature range in a rugged, compact surface-mount design.

These encoders feature a 2-bit quadrature code output and 360-degree continuous mechanical angle, creating micro encoders well-suited for space-constrained consumer electronics designs. The PEC04, and PEC05, and PEC06 incremental micro encoders provide six or 12 pulses in 360° rotation, 12 pulses in 360° rotation, and six pulses in 360° rotation, respectively. Contact rating for all devices is 10 mA @ 5 VDC. They are RoHS compliant.
These micro encoders are currently available through Bourns’ authorized distribution partners. Click here for Bourns’ portfolio of contacting encoders.
