nVent Electric plc has announced the U.S. launch of the nVent Schroff Rack Safety Plus power distribution unit (PDU) with an integrated emergency safety system for both partially and fully automated test systems. This all-in-one PDU family is available in several standard versions and can be modified with up to 300,000 options.

Combining modularity with safety compliance, the Rack Safety Plus PDU with E-STOP is a UL Certified plug-and-play solution, aimed at reducing lead times and costs. Both standard and modified configurations are UL-certified.

PDUs can be easily designed using nVent’s online configurator for U.S. and EU versions, using predefined components. Units can be modified as quickly as five minutes and are certified and tested for immediate integration in customer applications, the company said.

The 3U, 19-inch rack-mount Rack Safety Plus PDU family with an emergency stop complies with industry standards EN 60947-5-1 and EN 60204-1. They can be used in 19-inch test bench applications such as test and inspection equipment; systems and control monitoring; prototype test and development; and high-current and high-voltage power units.

These PDUs also may be used in applications such as real-time simulation and load simulators for electric vehicles as well as a variety of other test applications, including powertrain and hardware-in-the-loop as well as battery equipment test cabinets and power test equipment.

The Rack Safety Plus PDU line is available through nVent and its authorized distributors. Both standard and configured versions can be ordered from a quantity of one.
